A Brief History of Winter Park Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
First founded in 1958, Winter Park Christian Church, was formed by members of Orlando Central Christian Church who lived in the Winter Park, Florida, area and desired a local church. And now, over 65 years later, we continue to serve our community by sharing the message of Christ and providing a place of worship, service and fellowship.
What to Expect in Our Worship Service:
Winter Park Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) celebrates a "priesthood of all believers," meaning that the regular folks in the pew are just as important as whoever might be in the pulpit. Lay leaders regularly participate in the worship services in a variety of ways. We sing the traditional hymns of the faith, accompanied by a keyboard, and hear biblically-based sermons that are lively and relevant to living in today's world.
All are invited to celebrate the Lord's Supper from your seat. Baptism is usually by immersion, but we accept baptized believers by transfer of membership regardless of the method of baptism.
A time of invitation is offered at each worship service for individuals to profess their faith, transfer their membership, or simply recommit their lives to following Jesus more faithfully.
The church maintains a prayer ministry, and our Pastor, Rev. Gail Davidson, is available for hospital or home visits and counseling as needed.
